Welcome back!
I don’t have a whole lot of updates from the past few weeks, but what I do have to share I’m very proud of!
Since my last newsletter, I have slowly been growing my following on TikTok. I went from about 100 followers in my last post to… nearly 600. That’s absolutely insane! The support I’ve received so far in the indie author community has been astounding, and I’ve only made about a dozen videos promoting myself and Heartlines. I’ve even had people ask where they can buy my books, and I had to admit I don’t have anything for sale yet. Soon, though!
Regarding Heartlines, I didn’t end up with many beta-reading applicants, but that’s okay. I’m confident enough in the work to start recruiting ARC readers, and I already have two. If you wish to read the novel FOR FREE in exchange for an honest review, comment or email me!
I have also commissioned a cover from one of my best friends, a talented artist. I saw the mockups this past weekend and they are BEAUTIFUL! Once I have the cover, I will be sure to share, and I will also be able to more easily recruit ARC readers and participate in newsletter swaps.
I have also… drumroll… started working on a sequel, which will follow the daughter of Heartlines’ protagonist Ario. The work is still in the very beginning stages, so I don’t anticipate sharing more for a while.
So that’s where we’re at! Growing my audience and gearing up towards pre-release.
Indie Author Spotlight
This week I want to give a special shoutout to my friend LA Sinclair, who is looking for ARC readers for her clean LGBTQ romance Wading in the Sands, which is about record store employee Aarav and neighboring coffee shop worker Haru. They soon quickly find that they have a lot in common, including, unfortunately, some darkness in their pasts. Sinclair’s prose is light and evocative of fairy tales. You can find her ARC page here.
What I’m watching: The Handmaid’s Tale season 6, Pachinko season 1, Call the Midwife season 8
What I’m reading: Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins, All the Light we Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
